Bee Venom—Nature’s Botox?!

Author: Nicole  |  August 4th 2016

Yes you read that right, BEE VENOM! So I’m not sure about you but, I’m the type of person who cringes at the thought of being stung by one of those evil things and will gladly run into oncoming traffic to avoid a close encounter (thankfully, it has never come to that) but, there has been so much social buzz on this skin care trend that I just had to investigate.

Why So Popular?

The Royal Duchess Kate Middleton herself has claimed this ingredient as her secret to flawless, younger-looking skin. She isn’t the only celebrity who swears by this secret either; ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, grumpy American Idol judge Simon Cowell, and Australian babe Kylie Minogue are just a few others who’ve been stung by this trend.

What Is It?

Bee venom; also known as Apitoxin, is a colorless liquid made up of a mixture of proteins that are produced naturally by a bee and is injected into its victim via stinger (Oh, and I do mean victim! Whoever or whatever recipient of the sting has obviously been targeted by this angry little thing).

Why Is It Beneficial For My Skin?

When you’re stung by a bee your body reacts to the poison by sending blood to the affected area, which activates the production of collagen (the beautiful protein that keeps you looking young!). By applying a low dosage of the venom to the surface of the skin, the body reacts the same way as it would when being injected by the bee’s stinger, giving you the benefits of firmer, tighter, and more youthful looking skin! Repeat users of products that contain this elixir will notice smoother skin, a reduction in pore size, less fine lines and wrinkles, evened skin tone, and just an overall appearance of youthfulness we all crave from our skin care regimens!

So what do you think? Are you curious to see what the buzz is all about? Try it for yourself!
